The Harry Potter books have become ubiquitous early texts for children,
and are also a popular choice for many adults. Potter-mania has
expanded to become a significant cultural phenomenon complete with a
feature film and a wide range of paraphernalia. However, there has been
little critical attention devoted to these books and the cultural
phenomenon surrounding them. Containing powerful, thought-provoking
literary themes as well as portrayals of social and cultural normalcy,
the Potter books cumulatively serve as a powerful form of social text
and deserve serious critical attention.
This is the third of three books for learning English. The book has vocabulary, exercises, grammar, verbs, adjectives. These books are from the school Ingles Individual in Mexico. The book is in English and it is designed for self studying.
Книжка-читалка для самых маленьких. Эльфы помогают детям выучить алфавит (или эльфовит?) Для детей 4-8 лет.
Yolen's elves are all energetically engaged in a variety of activities:
"G is for Grape Elf grumpily gathering," "K is for Kite Elf keenly
kicking." Mills enters into the spirit of the book with watercolor
drawings of dainty, pointy-eared, long-toed little folk busy in their
flowered or fruited setting. Borders include upper- and lower-case
letters and more flowers, birds, or animals that extend the initial
letter theme, a device not uncommon among alphabet books. Although the
text is unexceptional and the delicate artwork is somewhat precious,
enough preschoolers and their care givers will enjoy the antics of the
elves to warrant purchase where there is room for another alphabet book
on the shelves.

Picture Books Plus focuses on five curricula—art, drama, music, math, and science, because we feel these areas will appeal most to public and school librarians, to teachers and early childhood educators, and, of course, to children, with their natural curiosity and energy. Each chapter includes twenty picture book titles along with a short annotation of the book, an extension in at least one of the five subject areas, any materials needed, and the procedure to conduct the extension. Every activity in this book was tested (some several times).
