A Summer in a CanyonA Summer in a Canyon

Set in a beautiful California canyon, Camp Chaparral is as glorious as its young inhabitants can make it -- with bedrooms of bright canvas, a game room, and a "sky parlour" high in a tree. Bell, Poly and Margery explore the woods, while their brothers, cousins and friends Geoffrey, Philip and Jack are out fishing and cavorting . . . but Little Dicky! Where has he disappeared -- ? The author of "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" offers this charming tale of youth and adventure in the sunny California of a more innocent time.

Edward Sylvester Ellis (April 11, 1840 – June 20, 1916) was an American author who was born in Ohio and died at Cliff Island, Maine.
Ellis was a teacher, school administrator, journalist, and the author of hundreds of publications that he produced by his name and by a number of noms de plume. Notable fiction stories by Ellis include The Huge Hunter, or the Steam Man of the Prairies and Seth Jones, or the Captives of the Frontier. Internationally, Edward S. Ellis is probably known best for his Deerhunter novels read widely by young boys until the 1950s.

Quilt as Desired

Quilt as DesiredQuilt as Desired

This was a great book! Loved the characters and the quilting descriptions. I thought the author did a beautiful job with intros and descriptions. I read it in a day, and promptly moved to the second book in the series, and can't wait for others to follow. I accidentally ordered two, and it was so good, I'll be passing it along to my quilting friends. I love the fact that there is now a longarm mystery series, although, as a longarm quilter myself, I've never completed a show quilt in one day! I really appreciated how the author described different types of customers in this industry - most are wonderful, but every once in a while, we do get the difficult ones!

In the second book of this series, we are re-introduced to the characters from the first book. This time, the women are at a quilting retreat. The author does a nice job bringing readers through the event - I could feel myself there with them throughout the book. The characters remain interesting, fun and as lively as they were in the first book, yet this book could stand alone on its own merits. The author again brings up many interesting aspects of the quilting industry today and how they are dealt with. I also finished this one in a day! I'll be eagerly awaiting the next one in the series!

Jane Boleyn: The True Story of the Infamous Lady Rochford [ABRIDGED AUDIOBOOK]

"Jane Boleyn's true history was obscured by lies and propaganda. Now, in an outstanding debut by Julia Fox, the full tragedy of her thwarted life has come to light. A fascinating and moving read, Jane Boleyn exposes the harsh reality of Henry VIII's court, where cleverness and ambition often led to the block."
--Amanda Foreman, author of Georgiana: Duchess of Devonshire
