Mathematical Puzzles: And Other Brain TwistersMathematical Puzzles: And Other Brain Twisters

This book was compiled for those who find enjoyment, entertainment and relief from worry in solving mechanical and manipulative puzzles and for the recreational leader who uses puzzles as a leisure time activity. A few can be purchased—but by including such information the title of the book would be misleading; and furthermore it's more fun to make than buy them.

This book is a facsimile reprint and may contain imperfections such as marks, notations, marginalia and flawed pages.

And That's the Truth! (Student Notebooks)And That's the Truth! (Student Notebooks)

And That's the Truth" is the very first bilingual English/Slovak edition of Nobel literature prize candidate Milan Rufus' poetry. Stark black-and-white images by illustrator Koloman Sokol perfectly complement the brief, striking verses embodying the author's embrace of human values, Christian morality, and concept of homeland as a place where man's creativity can shine. Each short poem is presented in its original Slovak and in English translation, on facing pages.

I love this book of puzzles. The writing makes you feel like your hanging out with the author, enjoying the puzzles together. There are a lot of great puzzles in here, as well as good writing.
This book begins with "A word of welcome-- and of warning" from the author.

Maidstone is found shot to death near Bore 10. The aborigine trackers can find no clue to the circumstances of his death, and it is some three weeks and many sand storms later that Detective-Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte, alias Ed Bonnay, arrives to delve into the problem. Bony doesn't make much progress until he deliberately lets it slip that he is a policeman. This really stirs things up. Of course, Bony solves the mystery; does he ever fail? This is not quite as good as a completely Arthur U pfield tale; it drags in parts, but some chapters are very gripping.
