Science is the academic journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and is considered one of the world's most prestigious scientific journals. The peer-reviewed journal, first published in 1880 is circulated weekly and has a print subscriber base of around 130,000. Because institutional subscriptions and online access serve a larger audience, its estimated readership is one million people.

This book is for adults and young adults. Each book is divided into units designed to last for a lesson of approximately 50 minutes and includes a grid describing the skills, topic and language functions covered in each unit. It comprises 20 two page units based on taped material at intermediate level. There are a variety of listening topics such as a story, interview, discussion, monologue, news report and lecture based on authentic or stimulated authentic material. Integrated activities covering pre-listening tasks and discussion based on listening for gist and specific information, prediction and writing tasks based on topics are included.
