The Eagle Has Landed

The book makes use of the false document technique, and opens with Higgins describing his discovery of the grave of thirteen German paratroopers in an English graveyard. What follows was inspired by the real life rescue of Hitler's ally Benito Mussolini by Otto Skorzeny, a similar idea is considered by Hitler, with the strong support of Himmler. Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, head of the Abwehr (German military intelligence), is ordered to make a feasibility study of the seemingly impossible task of capturing British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and bringing him to the Reich.

Their breathtaking showdown in The Eagle Has Landed established Jack Higgins as the undisputed master of the World War II spy thriller. Now IRA gunman Liam Devlin and fallen German assassin Kurt Steiner are back - joining forces to attempt the most daring coup of the war against a target at the very highest levels of the Third Reich...

From the depths of London's underworld to the war rooms of Berlin, Jack Higgins sweeps us back to the dangerous world of The Eagle Has Landed for the story that millions have waited for...a tale of ambiguious alliances, nonstop action and heart-stopping suspense that only Jack Higgins could tell.
