In this fifteenth volume of American Writers Supplements, we offer eighteen articles on American writers of fiction, drama (including film, and poetry; they are all accomplished writers who have displayed many of the virtues, yet none of them has yet been featured in this series. Volume Fifteen treats a wide range of authors from the past and present. The main focus of this volume is poetry, and twelve poets considered in this collection: Frank Bidart, Witter Bynner, Peter Everwine, Carol Frost, Dana Gioia, Weldon Kees, X. J. Kennedy, Kenneth Koch, Li-Young Lee, Gjertrud Schnackenberg, Louis Untermeyer, and C. D. Wright. Most of these are contemporary, although Bynner, Kees, and Untermeyer belong to the first half of the twentieth century.
