CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) Past Examination Paper

CPE is the highest-level ESOL exam, at Level C2 of the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Success at this level represents a significant personal achievement.

It has also been accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority in the UK as a Level 3 ESOL certificate in the Natiuonal Qualifications Framework.

If you are able to function effectively in almost any English-speaking context and are approaching a standard of English similar to that of an educated native speaker, then CPE is the exam for you.

The ESOL examinations cover all four language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing. They include a range of different types of question which test how well you can use English, so that you develop the full range of skills you need to communicate effectively in a variety of contexts.
