The House at World's End (2003) BBC Radio 4
(Ghost Stories of an Antiquary) (1904), "Еще рассказы о привидениях из антиквария" (More Ghost Stories of an Antiquary) (1911) и др.В этой постановке ВВС, сюжет построен таким образом, что очередной таинственный рассказ ведется от лица самого автора. На этот раз все странные события связаны с древней книгой....

Montague Rhodes James (August 1, 1862–June 12, 1936), who published under the byline M. R. James, was a noted medieval scholar and provost of King's College, Cambridge (1905–1918) and of Eton College (1918–1936), best remembered today for his ghost stories in the classic Victorian Yuletide vein.
The House at World's End by Stephen Sheridan is a brilliant pastiche of James's work, it contained numerous echoes of his stories while offering a fictional account of how he became interested in the supernatural. James was played by John Rowe, with Jonathan Keeble playing his younger self.   What terrible secret lies hidden in the library at Cranleigh Hall, and why is old Uncle Magnus so afraid of the night? If you'd like to know the answer you must listenthis story.
The story centres upon an evil and mysterious old book  De Regni Umbrorum [sic] - otherwiseThe Kingdom of Shadows - and the search for forbidden knowledge. We learn that more than one person is seeking for the book, and in time we learn the identity of the second searcher; the revelation is neatly handled and appropriately chilling. Three people come to a bad end because of the book;two have only their own callous greed to blame, but the third, like Mr Wraxall, Mr Burton, and Professor Parkins, is guilty of nothing more than curiosity and being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
