ForgottenForgotten

Who speaks for the dead when they scream bloody murder?
Sheldon Woods kidnapped and killed an untold number of boys, then escaped the death penalty by making a plea bargain for multiple life sentences in exchange for revealing the whereabouts of some of his victims. More than a decade later, the full extent of his crimes is still unknown, and many of the dead have never been accounted for. But Lisa Walsh is certain her brother, Christopher, was one of them, and to honor her mother’s dying wish, she’s on a mission to learn the truth and recover the little boy’s remains.

Anonyponymous - The Forgotten People Behind Everyday WordsAnonyponymous - The Forgotten People Behind Everyday Words

In this clever and funny book, John Bemelmans Marciano illuminates the lives of these anonyponymous persons. A kind of encyclopedia of linguistic biographies, the book is arranged alphabetically, giving the stories of everyone from Abu “algorithm” Al-Khwarizmi to Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin. Along with them you'll find the likes of Harry Shrapnel, Joseph-Ignace Guillotine, and many other people whose vernacular legacies have long outlived their memory.

Belgarath The Sorcerer by David EddingsBelgarath The Sorcerer by David Eddingsby David Eddings

The story of Belgarath, the great sorcerer learned in the Will and the Word, on whom the fate of the world depends. This is his own account of the struggle that went before "The Belgariad" and "The Malloreon". Only one man could tell of those near-forgotten times. That man is known as the Old Wolf.

The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great DepressionThe Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression

This breezy narrative comes from the pen of a veteran journalist and economics reporter. Rather than telling a new story, she tells an old one (scarcely lacking for historians) in a fresh way. Shlaes brings to the tale an emphasis on economic realities and consequences, especially when seen from the perspective of monetarist theory, and a focus on particular individuals and events, both celebrated and forgotten (at least relatively so).
