Message for Santa
Emily loves Christmas, but there is something about it which makes her heart sink, and that something is Santa Claus. Emily wants to block up the chimney to prevent Santa entering the house. But her mum inspires her to find another solution. Eventually, Emily writes Santa a note, telling him to come in through the back door, and go no further than the kitchen table! Afterwards, Emily is so pleased with Santa that she decides that from now on, he may enter the house, and even take a nap on the sofa if he is tired.
Patricia Anne “PA” Dolan is an artist, teacher and a storyteller. She lives in Chilliwack B.C. where one day she happened to read “Letters to Santa” in the local newspaper. One letter in particular stood out and tugged at her heart strings. That short letter (see the back cover) inspired her and she began to think about how Santa might get into houses without chimneys. This story is the result.
According to the story, it is Christmas Eve and Raggedy Ann and the other dolls did not have a gift for Marcella, and they wanted very much to find or make a gift for her. Making a gift was a tremendous challenge for dolls and toys that only came to life when the people were absent or asleep. Nothing seemed quite right until a Santa doll helped them. This book is based on the doll and toy characters created by Johnny Gruelle.
The halls are decked, the tree is trimmed, and one young boy is wide awake and watching for a special late-night visitor. But waiting isn't easy-especially when every little noise sounds like Santa! This festive rebus book features 24 flash cards to reinforce beginning reading skills.
