Carmen San Diego is back with another plot to disrupt the world. This time she is shrinking famous landmarks and hiding them. Only your super math skills and strategies can stop her. In this mystery adventure by The Learning Company, kids ages 8-14, search for clues and then use their math knowledge to solve equations and word problems. Each hideout has different activities like the Atom Smasher, Crimewave Sensor and Microchip Decoder, that must be completed in order to gain a clue. Activities have three levels of difficulty and cover essential math skills like addition, subtractions, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percents, word problems and geometry. Strategies for math success include estimation, modeling, simplification and conversion. Students will practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of integers, decimals and fractions. Activities will help to sharpen estimation skills with integers and decimals. Players will also work on number sense and logic, geometry and coordinate mapping and those always problematic word problems. This CD is packed with thousands of math problems, over 400 word problems, a strategy guide, glossary of math terms and progress reports. The problem set is customizable so students can concentrate on problem areas. There is also a practice mode for students to sharpen their skills.
