Idoru by William Gibson

Idoru is the second book in William Gibson's Bridge trilogy (following Virtual Light, followed by All Tomorrow's Parties). Idoru is a science-fiction novel set in a postmodern, dystopian, cyberpunk near-future. The main character, Colin Laney, has a talent for identifying nodal points, where historic or social changes are about to occur.
