Because of the nature of their subject, technology teachers have found
ways to make learning active and exciting, often through new activities
and projects that have real-world relevance. As technology fields grow,
the success of technology teachers is tied in with innovation rather
than the accomplishments of the past. Advanced Teaching Methods for the
Technology Classroom provides a comprehensive, critical approach to
meeting the new challenges of technology in the classroom. This book
gathers together research on technology methods, principles, and
content, and acts as a reference source for proven and innovative
methods. Advanced Teaching Methods for the Technology Classroom
presents an introduction to teaching educational technology, design,
and engineering. It also contains strategies for innovation by
examining the what, why, and how of technology education.
This book is a critical introduction to discourse analysis as it is practised in a variety of different disciplines today, from linguistics and sociolinguistics to sociology and cultural studies. The author shows how concern with the analysis of discourse can be combined, in a systematic and fruitful way, with an interest in broader problems of social analysis and social change.
Mathematical Methods in Linquistics is far more about mathematical methods than about linguistics, although in many places linquistics is used as a source of examples. Instead it covers such mathematical topics as sets (including infinite sets), relations, a good deal of mathematical logic, automata (up to turing machines), the lambda calculus, lattices and more. This would be an excellent book for an advanced undergraduate or graduate student in either mathematics or computer science to use either as a review text, or as a study guide for further investigation.

Review:
Very Interesting!
This is a very well-written book for teachers. The author seems to
know something about every subject that might be related to
composition--the bibliography alone should be required reading for all
prospective teachers; it's nearly 30 pages. I recommend this book very
highly.
Review:
A "must read" for teachers
This is the most comprehensive book I've ever seen on composition
and teaching. I mean, it has everything--psychology and writing,
linguistics and writing, reading and writing. Also, the book goes way
beyond theory and research to explain in clear language how an ordinary
teacher like me can actually apply theory and research in the
classroom. This is a really fine book, and I recommend it to everyone.
