Development of Communication Skills in Teaching & Learning English among (ESL)
Major objective: To identify problems & define strategies that could be adopted for the development of communication skills among the ESL Learners. Specific Objectives: To define the expected learning experiences and strategies adopted to learn English; To present problems in developing English communication skills; To suggest some development strategies; To elicit additional problems from the participants.
This book is intended as a guide for practitioners interested in forming alliances within their community to support teacher and student success. Under the umbrella of a professional development school (PDS), school principals willing to engage in this type of partnership have access to a framework for school renewal. Within this school/university framework lie four critical factors that transform the ways in which teachers’ teach and schools’ function. Stability and Divergence in Language Contact: Factors and Mechanisms (Studies in Language Variation, Book 16)
Convergence, i.e. the increase of inter-systemic similarities, is usually considered the default development in language contact situations. This volume focuses on the other logical possibilities of diachronic development, namely stability and divergence – two well-attested, but under-researched phenomena. The contributions investigate the sociolinguistic and structural factors and mechanisms that lead to or at least reinforce both types of non-convergence, despite of language contact. The contributions cover a wide range of language contact situations, including standard and non-standard varieties.
