Trouble on the set! A reality-based game show called Warehouse Rumble has come to Bayport, and Frank and Joe Hardy are hoping to be among the first contestants. But when someone finds a skeleton on the set, production comes to a screeching halt. Once filming can begin again, the show is plagued with problems -- and the Hardys and their friends are doing so well that jealous competitors start to blame them for all the trouble. Frank and Joe are suddenly on double duty. They have to convince their fellow contestants that they're playing a clean game, and solve the mystery so the show can go on!
The world is dead, devoured by a plague of reanimated corpses. In a crumbling city, Sarah, Nathan, and a band of survivors barricade themselves inside a warehouse surrounded by a sea of shambling putrefaction. Days in seclusion blur by, and their food is nearly gone. The group is faced with two possible deaths: creeping starvation, or the undead outside the warehouse. As Sarah stands on the edge of the warehouse roof preparing to step out into oblivion she spots a glimmer of hope. In the distance a helicopter approaches the city... but is it the salvation the survivors have been waiting for?
Trixie Dolan and Evangeline Sinclair, Babson's feisty elderly heroines, are back, just as bickering, inquisitive, and delightful as ever. The two former film stars are at leisure (temporarily, of course) but they have, again of course, expectations of juicy parts in a movie in the near future. Meanwhile, circumstances force a move to a penthouse suite in an only partially remodeled London warehouse. Currently the quarters are pretty primitive, but the two actresses cope bravely, not even minding the dangerous door in the kitchen that opens onto an unguarded three-story drop.
The story begins as bank robber Max Holman is leaving jail, having served his nine-year sentence. He's clean and sober, and the only thing on his mind is reconciliation with his estranged son, who is, ironically, a cop. Then the devastating news: his son and three other uniformed cops were gunned down in cold blood in the LA warehouse district the night before Holman's release.
