Hernando Cortes and the Fall of the Aztecs (Explorers of New Lands)Hernando Cortes and the Fall of the Aztecs (Explorers of New Lands)

The conquest of the Aztecs is a mighty tale to tell and Rachel A. Koestler-Grack does a fine job of bringing history to life. The ambitions, defeats, and victories of explorer and conqueror Hernando Cortes are chronicled in ten well researched chapters. It often reads like an action-packed adventure novel. It presents a balanced account of the achievements of the Spanish and the Aztecs, as well as their dark sides of gruesome war, battles, and bloody sacrifices.

The Three Lands OmnibusThe Three Lands Omnibus

Koretia, Emor, and Daxis were all founded on the same day, but as the centuries have passed, the Three Lands of the Great Peninsula have become increasingly divided by religion, government, and culture. Koretians worship many gods, Daxions worship one goddess, and Emorians revere only their law. Emorians claim that Koretians are vicious and superstitious, Koretians think that Daxions are vile oath-breakers, and Daxions charge that Emorians abuse their children and slaves.

Crusade, Heresy and Inquisition in the Lands of the Crown of Aragon 1167 - 1276Crusade, Heresy and Inquisition in the Lands of the Crown of Aragon 1167 - 1276

Based on extensive study of the primary and secondary sources, Damian J. Smith here provides the first full account of the combined influence of crusade, heresy and inquisition in and about the lands of the Crown of Aragon until the death of James I the Conqueror in 1276. This work deals with the gradual loss of influence of the Crown in Provence and Languedoc culminating in the treaty of Corbeil in 1258. It then investigates the extent of heresy in the lands of the Crown and in other areas of Christian Spain. In the final part, the origins and development of the Aragonese inquisition are discussed in detail with a particular emphasis on the role of Ramon de Penyafort.
