Feminine Knits: 22 Timeless DesignsThis is a really good book. I'm impressed with the quality of the patterns, I would make and wear most of them. Unlike several of other knitting books, this one has mostly garments and not a lot of accessories like hats and scarves. The patterns are up to date and elegant. Lots of possibilities here!
Inspired Cable Knits, Ellis once again borrows from traditional techniques to create an unprecedented collection of gorgeous, wearable garments. Using the basic technique of Fair Isle knitting (small geometric motifs worked with just two colours repeated in a row), she creates an earthy, modern and timeless collection of designs divided into chapters entitled Water, Air, Fire and Earth. Using unconventional placement of Fair Isle patterning, such as at the cuff or shoulder and asymmetrical or striped colour placement, Ellis creates a wide variety of moods, movements and graphic impact.
From ruffled sweaters to fur-trimmed scarves and serious jackets, there’s something for everyone in this stunning collection of thirty designs. The book is divided into four sections: spirited, featuring bold and adventurous outfits that demand attention; playful, which includes lively and eye-catching items of all kinds; demure, designs for the modest girls or those who just like to play coy; and driven, outfits for career-minded women.
Easy illustrated instructions make these projects easy: socks, gloves, sweaters, vests, and more. This compendious book also includes all the essential information on needles, yarns, stitches, buttons, borders, pockets, pompons, and fringe, as well as advanced techniques like cable knits. Everything is clearly and colorfully illustrated with hundreds of photographs. It also includes a section on crocheting.
Charmed Knits offers dozens of patterns for items that evoke the mystique of Harry Potter - a Wizard Robe, an Invisibility Shawl, a Quidditch Sweater, Ron's Ragg Raglan, a Clock Blanket, Harry Christmas Ornaments, and more. Easy-to-follow patterns, color photos of the finished projects, and illustrations of special stitch patterns and design elements make it easy for all knitters - from beginners to those at Mrs. Weasley's level - to work knitting magic.
