CNN Student News is excited to be kicking off a new academic year! Our daily current events coverage starts with a report on extreme flooding in Louisiana and an explanation of the difference between a flood and a flash flood. We're taking a look at how one U.S. Olympian's accomplishments have had a national impact on his sport, and we're featuring a Character Study on how one Australian man's drive to assist others is bringing them more than clean clothes.
"Taken at the Flood" by Agatha Christie [UNABRIDGED AUDIOBOOK] When a widow tries to collect on her inheritance, her in-laws are unpleasantly surprised. They're even more horrified by the news – suspiciously related from the "spirit world" – that she may be a bigamist. When murder shakes the family tree, Hercule Poirot investigates. Read by Hugh Fraser.
The Borrowers, a family of miniature people, journey down a drain, live briefly in a teakettle, and are swept away in a flood before finding a new home. Sequel to "The Borrowers Afield."
The Moomins and the Great Flood (in the original Swedish it is The Little Trolls and the Great Flood) is a book written by Finnish author Tove Jansson in 1945. It was the first book to star the Moomins during the end of World War II, but is often seen as a prequel to the main Moomin books, as most of the main characters are introduced in the next book.
