Refusals in Instructional Contexts and Beyond
Refusals in Instructional Contexts and BeyondLittle exposure and few opportunities for practice are two main drawbacks for learners in instructional contexts. These problems are intensified when dealing with face-threatening acts such as refusals, as learners are not fully capable of expressing their meanings and miscommunication is a likely by-product. The present volume aims at exploring factors and production of refusals in different instructional settings by means of ten original papers which address key questions dealing with the speech act of refusals.

Case and Grammatical Relations
Case and Grammatical RelationsThe papers in this volume can be grouped into two broad, overlapping classes: those dealing primarily with case and those dealing primarily with grammatical relations. With regard to case, topics include descriptions of the case systems of two Caucasian languages, the problems of determining how many cases Russian has and whether Hungarian has a case system at all, the issue of case-combining, the retention of the dative in Swedish dialects, and genitive objects in the languages of Europe.

The Confidence Book: Building Trust in the Language Classroom
The Confidence Book: Building Trust in the Language Classroom

The Confidence Book is easy to use. Most of the activities require very little pre-lesson analysis or preparation - just an open mind (or a number of them) - and a desire to let things happen. You could say that the book has its own natural order, progressing from students teaching each other their names, right through to teachers dealing with being observed.
