Tintin in the Congo Tintin au Congo first appeared as a serial from 5 June 1930, over a period of a year, in "
Le Petit Vingtième", the children's supplement to the Brusssels newspaper "
Le Vingtième Siècle". In 1931 the story was published in book form by Les Editions du Petit Vingtième and a few months later by Editions Casterman of Tournai.

The hero of the series is Tintin, a young Belgian reporter. He is aided in his adventures from the beginning by his faithful fox terrier dog Snowy (Milou in French).
