Theory of Numbers: A Textbook

"Theory of Numbers: A Textbook" is aimed at students of Mathematics who are graduates or even undergraduates. Very little prerequisites are needed. The reader is expected to know the theory of functions of a real variable and in some chapters complex integration and some simple principles of complex function theory are assumed. The entire book is self contained except theorems 7 and 9 of chapter 11 which are assumed. The most ambitious chapter is chapter 11 where the most attractive result on difference between consecutive primes is proved.

Interdisciplinary Pedagogy for STEM: A Collaborative Case Study

This book focuses on constructivist theory and collaborative interdisciplinary studies, showing how constructivist theory complements interdisciplinary studies. Constructivist theory stresses how learners construct new ideas and concepts, while the interdisciplinary method requires that learners approach complex problems from multiple perspectives. The author uses the New York City College of Technology as a model to demonstrate how learning can be embedded in complex, realistic, and relevant environments.

How Science Works: Evolution: The Nature of Science & The Science of Nature, Second Edition

Evolution is just a theory, isn’t it? What is a scientific theory anyway? Don’t scientists prove things? What is the difference between a fact, a hypothesis and a theory in science? How does scientific thinking differ from religious thinking? Why are most leading scientists atheists? Are science and religion compatible? Why are there so many different religious beliefs but only one science? What is the evidence for evolution? Why does evolution occur? If you are interested in any of these questions and have some knowledge of biology, this book is for you

Freud's Theory of Dreams: A Philosophico-Scientific Perspective

Freud’s Theory of Dreams: A Philosophico-Scientific Perspective evaluates Freud’s theory of dreams in light of the many philosophical and scientific criticisms that have been brought against it. Michael T. Michael addresses the validity of Freud’s method of dream interpretation, the scientific nature of the theory, and how Freud’s ideas bear up to modern research on dreams, engaging on the way with critics such as Ludwig Wittgenstein, Clark Glymour, Karl Popper, Adolf Grünbaum, and J. Allan Hobson.

Indian Philosophy: Metaphysics

Volume 3: Metaphysics is concerned with the complement to pramana theory, i.e. prameya theory. Whereas the pramanas are the means of knowledge, the prameyas are the knowables, cognisable entities that constitute the world. With respect to the number and kinds of such entities, there was a very wide variety of opinion among classical Indian philosophers – including variants of monism, dualism and pluralism about both entities and kinds. Many metaphysical topics were debated, but two of the most important were causation and the nature of the self.
