Sartor Resartus by Thomas CarlyleThomas Carlyle's major work, Sartor Resartus (meaning 'The tailor re-tailored'), first published as a serial in 1833-34, purported to be a commentary on the thought and early life of a German philosopher called Diogenes Teufelsdroeckh (which translates as 'god-born devil-dung'), author of a tome entitled "Clothes: their Origin and Influence." The Origin of Species by Charles DarwinThe Origin of Species by Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin is the father of modern evolution. Darwin used philosophy and biological science to develop the concept of evolution which is primarily based on the theory of 'natural selection'. Darwin observed in the world about him what he believed to be the result of a single cell organism that had evolved into all forms of life we see today. More importantly, there is no chaos involved. It has order. Origin of the Species is all about Darwin discussing how he came to this conclusion. This is the classics of the biology and must be read by everyone who is interestedin biology.
