Applicable Differential GeometryApplicable Differential Geometry

This is an introduction to geometrical topics that are useful in applied mathematics and theoretical physics, including manifolds, metrics, connections, Lie groups, spinors and bundles, preparing readers for the study of modern treatments of mechanics, gauge fields theories, relativity and gravitation. The order of presentation corresponds to that used for the relevant material in theoretical physics: the geometry of affine spaces, which is appropriate to special relativity theory, as well as to Newtonian mechanics, is developed in the first half of the book, and the geometry of manifolds, which is needed for general relativity and gauge field theory, in the second half.

Modern Introductory PhysicsModern Introductory Physics

This innovative text for first-semester college and university physics students presents the principal elements of physics needed to answer the question: "Why do we believe in atoms and their properties?" Pursuing the theme of the nature of the atom, the book offers a sound introduction to basic physics of the nineteenth and twentieth century, including discussion of important ideas of quantum mechanics. The revised and improved second edition includes two new chapters about the nature of photons and quantum entanglement

This Amazingly Symmetrical WorldThis Amazingly Symmetrical World

Here is a fascinating and nontechnical introduction to the ubiquitous effects of symmetry. Starting with geometrical elements of symmetry, the author reveals the beauty of symmetry in the laws of physics, biology, astronomy, and chemistry. He shows that symmetryand asymmetry form the founda tion of relativity, quantum mechanics, solid-state physics, and .ato mic, subatomic, and elementary particle physics, and so on.

Essential Quantum MechanicsEssential Quantum Mechanics

Quantum Mechanics- central not only to physics but also chemistry, materials science and other fields- is notoriously abstract and difficult. Essential Quantum Mechanics is a uniquely concise and explanatory book that fills the gap between introductory and advanced courses, between popularizations and technical treatises.
