Headwork Reading is a new series of 18 fiction books for 11-14 year olds with reading ages of 6-9 years. The storybooks are carefully graded into four levels, using the Fry reading scale, and range from 400-3000 words in length with varying numbers of stories in each book. Built-in progression, through story length, language level and conceptual laoding, allows reluctant readers to increase their reading skills and stamina gradually.
The author is Josephine Feeney. The main character is a man and two girls..this book gives a strong message of environmental protection.
the two girls, because they protest about that man. Although that man is very rich and he controlled the main food supply in the village; used a lot of money to lure them, sent a dog to attack them, stopped selling food to their families. He hoped the two girls to stop the protest. However, the two girls still insisted to protest him whatever they were under the pressure of their families. I appreciate with their insistence, they stand firmly with their view.
Mr Ross lives on an island where no visitors come. He stops people from taking photographs of him. He is young and rich, but he looks sad. And there is one room in his house which is always locked. Carol Sanders and her mother come to the island to work for Mr Ross. Carol soon decides that there is something very strange about Mr Ross. Where did he get his money from? How can a young man buy an island? So she watches, and she listens - and one night she learns what is behind the locked door.
Hans Andersen wrote many stories, and these are some of the best. We meet a very, very small child, a bird with a beautiful voice, a mermaid with legs, an ugly duckling with no friends – and an emperor with some very strange new clothes. These stories teach us lessons for life.
