Ozzy OzoneOzzy OzoneThe fourth issue of the Ozzy Ozone: Defender of our Planet comic book series, entitled Ozzy Goes Island Hoppingfeatures ozone depletion and climate change with a special focus on Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs). In this story Ozzy and Zoe Ozone travel from the stratosphere to visit their friends Alida, the leatherback turtle; Guno, the sand crab and Ronaldo, the red snapper in Suriname to learn about the effects of climate change in small islands and low-lying coastal states.

Energy and Climate - Science for Citizens in the Age of Global Warming (Audiobook)Energy and Climate - Science for Citizens in the Age of Global Warming (Audiobook)

While some argue that there's no "proof" that humans are warming the planet, certainly scientists across the world disagree. In his course "Energy and Climate: Science for Citizens of Global Warming," Professor Richard Wolfson provides the following arguments supporting serious global warming: 1. CO2 (carbon dioxide) has increased by over 30% since 1750. 2. CO2 is the dominant contributor to the greenhouse effect though other gases (methane, nitrous oxide, and CFCs) also contribute. 3. The US is responsible for about 20% of global CO2 emissions with a per capita emission of 20 tons per year. 4. By 2100, the atmospheric CO2 concentration is expected to double the pre-industrial level.

Climate Change and Crop ProductionClimate Change and Crop Production

Current trends in population growth suggest that global food production is unlikely to satisfy future demand under predicted climate change scenarios unless rates of crop improvement are accelerated. In order to maintain food security in the face of these challenges, a holistic approach that includes stress-tolerant germplasm, sustainable crop and natural resource management, and sound policy interventions will be needed.

Integrated Greenhouse Systems for Mild Climates: Climate Conditions, Design, Construction, Maintenance, Climate ControlIntegrated Greenhouse Systems for Mild Climates: Climate Conditions, Design, Construction, Maintenance, Climate Control

Crop production in greenhouses is a growing industry, especially in mild climates, and is very important for the population as a source of income and clean, fresh food. Greenhouses create optimal climate conditions for crop growth and protect crops from outside pests. At the same time greenhouse production increases water use efficiency and makes integrated production and protection (IPP) possible. This book provides technical instructions for practice (what to do and what not to do) and gives answers to the question: How to produce more clean crops and better quality with less water, less land and less pesticide.
