The "I Know It" trademark means just that — when your child finishes this book he or she will know and be excited about that learning.
Phonics is the study of sounds. In some languages, each separate sound has a separate symbol in writing. In the English language, however, we have only 26 symbols (the 26 letters of the alphabet) but more than 40 separate sounds. Yet the English language is at least 8 5% phonetic: this means that when a child can associate the correct sound with the correct symbol, he or she can pronounce most English words. Thus the understanding of phonics is a tool which will help students read. It will also help them spell.
