The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy had a kind of non-ending, reaching a stopping point when Zaphod decided to head for the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Now, the adventures of Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beeblebrox, and Trillian have resumed, and they're in as much trouble as ever. The first chapter emphasizes that, following the Vogon's destruction of Earth, there are only two human survivors, Arthur and Trillian, and the altogether unpleasant, bureaucratic and lumpy Vogons aren't happy that they've left a job unfinished. But the immediate Vogon threat is just a means to get our characters in motion, and the real plot involves Zaphod, the ex-President of the Galaxy, and the mysterious part of his minds (yes, both of them) that is closed off to him. The answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything has been discovered, and now Zaphod's on an unwilling mission to find the one man who rules the galaxy. Arthur's just along for the ride.
