The articles, including the ones on the work life of Native Americans, mid-twentieth-century mine union leader John L. Lewis, and environmental concerns in NAFTA, are balanced in presentation. Further readings at the end of each entry document the article and lead the user further, as do see also references. The length is sufficient to fully explain the topic; for example, American slavery is seven and one-half pages long. Material is current into 2003.
