The book is useful at both the beginning and advanced levels as readers will find quick references to lab values and diagnostic strategies to use when evaluating common conditions. It is much more comprehensive than another similar handbook, Collins' Algorithmic Selection and Interpretation of Diagnostic Tests (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 1998). This text has certainly stood the test of time in usefulness.
