A visit from Saint Nicholas

The author of this book was Clement Clark Moore (1779-1863). This is a fun and wonderfully illustrated version of Night Before Christmas. Illustrated from drawings by Felix Octavius Carr Darley (1822-1888). Published in 1862. This is the next position worth just having.

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
