This Student Workbook incorporates interactive reading strategies with core content from the “Glencoe World History Modern Times” textbook written at a lower level than the textbook to help struggling readers and ELL (English Language Learner) students. Some texts will also be useful for ESL/EFL reading comprehension exercises on social studies topics. "Glencoe World History: Modern Times Reading Essentials and Study Guide" is designed to help the student use recognized reading strategies to improve reading-for-information skills. For each section of the student textbook, students are alerted to key terms and are asked to draw from prior knowledge, organize your thoughts with a graphic organizer, and then follow a process to read and understand the text. The Reading Essentials and Study Guide was prepared to help students get more from their textbook by reading with a purpose.
