1. What is Gerry's Vocabulary Teacher?
Gerry's Vocabulary Teacher is a simple database program intended for language teachers. It enables you to create and store word lists with an associated set of example sentences for each word, and the example sentences can be used to create a variety of different gapfill exercises for printing or completion on the Web. It is distributed with Gerry Luton's original database, which consists of over 2500 headwords and 34,000 sentences for learners of English. The database is provided in three forms: British, Canadian and American English.

Included among the headword is the vocabulary contained in the Academic Word List, as developed at the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies at Victoria University of Wellington. You can see the word list here:
